VIDEOCAST 3. INHIBITION

Executive Function is the cognitive process involved in regulating attention. This video discusses Inhibition, which is the first of the three major conceptual components of Executive Function.  Inhibition refers to a persons ability to inhibit their attention being drawn to unhelpful events or habits (chunking as described in the previous video-cast).  Attention is not useful without Inhibition.  Executive Function, of which Inhibition is a core component, is a major determinant of academic and social success as an adult.

Useful references
This is a book that discusses whether technology and other factors has affectedthe ability of people in  modern society's control of their attention. This is an interesting book about which I have some reservations.
